Nokia is set to unveil the “Tube,” its first mass market touchscreen device, at an October 2nd event in London. The launch will be integrated into Nokia’s launch of its “Comes With Music” service, and will likely fall under the “XpressMusic” sub-brand as the 5800. Â
In July, Nokia stated; “”our first touch device will be aimed solidly at the ‘mid-range’ or ‘volume’ part of the market. This device will be competitively spec-ed – especially considering the price point and will be announced in a few months.” Â Nokia stood by its timeframe of releasing the Tube by the end of the year, and will likely see a global launch at the same time as the London unveiling. Â
Sporting the S60 Touch OS, the Tube will feature things the iPhone has left out- such as direct video and photo uploading and full java support. Â No pricing information has been provided, nor has information regarding which US carrier will offer it, if any.
