After first releasing a version of its HERE Maps application in 2013 to iPhone users in the wake of the Apple Maps launch fiasco, Nokia has released a brand new version of HERE Maps for the iPhone that aims to not only correct the issues present in the previous offering, but aims to offer parity with the Android and Windows Phone versions.
The new HERE Maps for iPhone now includes support for internal map storage for use offline, which was a key feature missing in the previous version of the application along with free, voice-guided, turn-by-turn directions. Users can now plan routes via car, public transport, or on foot. Nokia also claims maps for the iOS version are available for up to 190 countries with turn-by-turn directions available in about 100. Transit maps are also available in 950 metro areas across 50 different countries, with more being added frequently. HERE Maps is a free download.
