Nokia has released its first version of the Qt SDK which is currently in beta. The SDK will allow developers to create and compile programs for Symbian 3.1 all the way up to Symbian^3, Maemo and MeeGo.
In terms of tool and API depth, the SDK is nearly complete with the Qt class library which includes GUI controls, WebKit integration, networking, database frameworks and more tools. C++ programmers can use the Qt Creator cross-platform IDE which includes a GUI layout and forms designer, project build management tools, debugging functions and code navigation tools for rapid development on any supported platform.
Qt is a cross-platform software stack that is widely used to create applications which can run on Mac, Windows, and Linux without porting code. It will form the basis of MeeGo’s software stack, and provide Nokia developers a bridge for their Symbian apps to transition to the MeeGo platform.
