Nokia Enhances Software Update Support

Nokia today announced that their in-home firmware updating software has been updated to support over 35 phones. Nokia Software Update enables users to update the firmware in their phones, in order to gain the lastest updates, fixes, and performance improvements.

Nokia Software Update, when installed on a user’s home PC, walks the user through the specific process for updating their handset. Depending on the phone model, the updater will assist the user with connecting the phone to their PC for update, or, initiating a Firmware Over-the-Air (FOTA) update.

The latest update adds support for Series 40 phones, as well as S60 phones beyond Nokia’s N-series and E-series. Nokia software update now rivals, if not beats, Sony Ericsson Update Service as having the most phones supported. Motorola Software Update only supports about a half-dozen devices in the U.S.
