When a new chief executive comes to office, one has come to expect that corporate reshuffling usually follows. After laying off 4,000 employees, CEO Dan Hesse, has let go of three of its top executives: Chief Financial Officer Paul Saleh, Chief Marketing Officer Tim Kelly, and President of Sales and Distribution Mark Angelino. All three will be leaving today Friday, January 25th.
Taking their place will be current Senior VP of Product Development and Management, John Garcia who will serve as the interim Chief Marketing Officer, and Paget Alves who will be promoted from Sprint Nextel’s Regional President for Sales and Distribution to President of Sales and Distribution. Filling in as acting Chief Financial Officer is the current Senior Vice President and Controller of Sprint Nextel, William G. Arendt. These three men will all be reporting directly to Hesse further streamlining corporate operations.
Upon announcement of these changes, Hesse stated his intentions on fulfilling these positions. “Permanent leaders will be named in conjunction with a review of overall strategy and an effort to streamline operations. I have no predetermined timeframe in filling these positions but plan to act as quickly as possible as I consider both internal and external candidates.”
