The number one trending topic on Twitter right now is: T-Mobile. The reason behind this number one ranking is not good news. All across the the nation T-Mobile Sidekick users are without data access and currently T-Mobile does not expect to have the data outage fixed until late this weekend.
Many users including famous celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton are reporting that they are receiving bill credits from $35 to 3 months free data from calling T-Mobile customer service to complain about the lack of data service. Update 1: – T-Mobile is reporting that data access will begin to come back online tonight but that it will take until at least Monday for all services to be fully restored per the update on the T-Mobile Support Forums.

Update 2: As on Sunday evening, Sidekick data usage has not been fully resolved. T-Mobile’s latest update as of Sunday at 12:42pm is as follow:

Update 4:
T-Mobile is advising customers not to do a hard reset. A hard resetcan cause address book and calendar applications to be lost.
“IM services and access to social networking applications are now being restored along with Web browsing. The Address Book, Calendar, and other features are available as well, however, we advise customers to not ‘hard reset’ their device by removing the battery as it may cause information they enter into the Address Book and Calendar applications to be lost. We expect e-mail service and back-up of user data to be restored today. Some richer data services, such as new purchases from the Catalog, may take longer to enable.”

wow. so the service sucks to begin with and this sidekick service outage has just made T-Mobile unbearable. I posted a rant in reply to a forum on T-mobile saying how much the service sucks and 10 minutes latter when i look to see if there are any other posts there the thread is gone. Some T-mobile mod removed the thread?? what the hell is this. I am fed up with them to no end. and when i attempted to call them to talk about the service (or the lack there of) i couldn’t get anyone on the phone so i gave up after 11 minutes.

Here’s a few tips:
#1: DO NOT LET YOUR PHONE DIE! YOU WILL LOSE ALL INFORMATION UNTIL DATA SERVICES ARE RESTORED!
#2: DO NOT CALL CUSTOMER CARE FOR TROUBLESHOOTING!!! THEY WILL DO A MASTER RESET AND LOSE ALL YOUR DATA!!! THIS IS REQUIRED TROUBLESHOOTING!!! THEN YOU WILL GET YOUR DATA BACK WHEN SERVICES ARE RESTORED!!!
#3: TO TEST TO SEE IF SERVICE IS BACK, GO TO “AIRPLANE MODE” AND “TURN WIRELESS OFF.” WAIT FOR 2 MINUTES SO YOUR SIDEKICK WILL GET DISCONNECTED FROM THE NETWORK. THEN “TURN WIRELESS ON” TO SEE IF SERVICES ARE RESTORED!!!
#4: REQUEST CREDIT WHEN SERVICES ARE RESTORED AND GIVE THEM THE EXACT AMOUNT OF DAYS THE OUTAGE OCCURRED FOR YOU OR EVEN THREATEN TO CANCEL SERVICE AND YOU MAY BE UPGRADED TO LOYALTY UNLIMITED PLAN!!!
So.. basically the only reason tmobile was even semi-ill was because of the sidekick and now they suck (not only do they break easily, now the aim is gone?), so t-mobile sucks. bye bye t-mobile helloooooooooooooo verizon! 🙂

This morning I had my G soon as I logged in on aim, tweeted and texted people saying my network was back it went back to the 2 and the finding signal. Urghhhhh. I just wish it will be over tonight Monday Oct. 5 2009 not a day later. And yes prepaid/flexpay/montly will be credited for the inconveince.
I was SO MAD at this! I bought my 09 a couple months ago, my first sidekick ever after my dash EXPLODED, so this thing was like an effing dream. I didn’t lose my notes till this morning even after I took the battery out, so now my notes and contacts are gone, which sucs cuz I’m in college and write papers on it. (It’s the smartphone of all smartphones, I ad an MDA and a Dash before this, and the MDA was clunky and had a damn mind of its own, and the Dash EXPLODED, and even with the service outage I think SIdekicks are better) TO make matters worse, I got service back for like three minutes, right before my train went underground, and now it’s gone again. I wanna throw it against a wall.
I’m not switching from T-MObile, I’ve had that service since I was like 9 or 10, and it’s the only seervice I know. Bt this is not cool man. My texts were working though, before my service came back. Maybe Danger/Microsoft/The people shitting all over our patronage is deciding to mess with our service in special, individualized ways. Mac needs to come and make a Sidekick iPhone hybrid or something. Or even better, a PSP phone. That would be awesome lol.

My phone has been worthless since Thursday night. And no amount of bill credits are going to make this right.
I am very mad what your guys dont get is when the sidekick data service goes so does your phone book. You dont have phone number, old picture mail or text that was just on the phone. My sceduler , to do list, calender all 3 messengers, emails, face book, my space everything is gone and I use allllllllll of my phone features!!!! Tmobile first offered me 100 free text messages and I went off its was very insulting I paid $500 for the phone and $35 a month in data and have unlimited messages but you offer more. So I spoke with a manager got $35 off the bill but then it wasnt applied. so I had to call back and get them to remove the moeny.

I work for T-Mobile, and what I don’t understand is why you people are buying a phone that doesn’t hav internal memory and requires a data plan to sync the info, and that without that data plan the phone looses the contacts, texts, email, etc… why don’t you purchase wichever other phone that IS NOT a Sidekick????. Don’t you realize that Sidekicks WITHOUT a data plan are not even a phone???

To say this isn’t tmobiles problem is totally wrong. I work in IT. If a system goes down and its oracle, no user says, oh, its oracles problem. Its our problem and we need to contact oracle.

No, we are all having problems with our texts. Because 99% of us turned off the phone or soft resetted before we knew about the outage, the phone can’t access the network to retain our customized settings (like ringtones and vibrations). Yet, for some reason, if you check the message alert settings or ringer volume, it says it will ring/vibrate. That’s one of the things irritating me most with this. I never know if I get messaged now.
They said it’s almost fixed, but I haven’t seen anything. Just texts with my user/password.
I have a memory card, so it backs up my texts, pic texts, phonebook, and notes on there. I don’t have a problem right now other than no data usage.
And I’m on this site through my kick’s browser, hopefully they bring im’ing back soon. > <

The problem is due to the Danger server, which the owner of that is Micro$oft. They purchased Danger. Therefore, the problem is caused by microsoft, not really T-Mobile. Once again, I don’t really understand why are you purchasing a phone that doens’t have any memory and that it needs data service in order to maintain the info on the phone since it needs to sync every single time. If you don’t have data and you reset your phone or remove the battery, you LOOSE everything!!!!. Don’t you learn from your experience or from everybody else???. Get another phone that is not a Sidekick guys!!. If you want a keyboard, get the HTC Touch pro 2 or the Sansumg Comeback or the G1. Any Nokia phone is good. DON’T get Sidekick, or DO NOT complaint whenever you have this king of problems.
Something else. T-Mobile doesn’t unlock Sidekicks and that’s it. So if you want to do that, use your resources and unlock it on your own (write down unlock sidekick on youtuve and you will learn how to do it)

And besides, I really want you guys to realize that a phone is not a good phone if it needs something else to work properly (in this case, the data plan).
The Sidekick needs the data plan to work ok, but there are a lot of phones that work fine with and WITHOUT a data plan. I have a HTC Kaiser. If I remove the battery, I don’t lose the contacts. That’s how it is supposed to be. That’s why I don’t understand why you keep purchasing Sidekicks.
I have a sidekick…I am still without everything and have been told that I could possibly never get my 280 contacts back…GREAT! So…in conclusion…the person that stated earlier “why do you buy a phone that relies on the server to store all of your info?” I don’t know…but I will NEVER make that mistake again.
And yes..TMobile has lost me as a customer. This is unacceptable that it has taken this long to fix…I don’t care who’s to blame…this is just not acceptable.
My G keeps coming and going hopefully it will be permanetly fixed and secure by midnight tonight.

That was one of the initial things that drew me to the Sidekick. The fact that all of your data was backed up by Danger was a plus, don’t you see?

nope….not the first time…this happened about a year ago for about a day and a half. When you have a phone that you can store numbers to the memory card, you can download on your computer to back them up…I don’t want to rely on a server that goes down all of the time. Especially if they’re imcompetent enough to not get it fixed quicker than 4 freaking days!

I live in NYC & I’ve had no sidekick service since 7am Friday morning. I’m only able to make/receive calls & texts. I can’t send or receive picture texts and I don’t have my myfavs, internet, IM, email & download catalog. Service was coming in and out all today (10/05/09). It would come on but 5 minutes later, it would be off. It’s getting really frustrating & I got 1 more month left on my contract.

This is a complete outrage that it has been down this long, in todays society and bussiness world cell communication has became a fixtrue and serious need to make the world run for many of us. i work in the music industry and use my sidekick as not only my personal communication device but as well as for my bussiness. I have not been able to reach my family, friends, and have missed numerous calls I was to make over the past 3 to 4 days wit many artist in the industry and have lost contracts, damaged relationships, but as well as lost money daily during this outage. I know my sidekick and maybe even my T mobile days all together are over… Time to look into a Blackberry.

Come to think of it, I wonder if a good lawyer could set up grounds for a class action lawsuit, I know if I myself have lost money over this, then there are probably many many many other people who also have lost money, and even more important the stress and chaos I know it has caused in my life must of struck others. A example is my daughter got stranded outside this weekend by locking her self out the house, I was not home and she was not able to contact me as we both have sidekicks and she didnt have my number, she ended up sitting outside in the cold and rain for 6 hours till i got home. Not a happy father about that.
Get a phone with Windows Mobile, and you will be able to sync it with the Outlook on your computer. All your contacts and personal info will be duplicated on the PC, besides your phone. You can also get and install on it applications to backup your info such as “mobile backup for Windows Mobile 2007” or “Sprite Mobile – Backup Software for Windows Mobile” and you won’t ever worry about this.
If someone steals my phone, I’ll get all my contacts from the outlook on my computer.
Lesson learned: Windows Mobile rules!
