The number one trending topic on Twitter right now is: T-Mobile. The reason behind this number one ranking is not good news. All across the the nation T-Mobile Sidekick users are without data access and currently T-Mobile does not expect to have the data outage fixed until late this weekend.
Many users including famous celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton are reporting that they are receiving bill credits from $35 to 3 months free data from calling T-Mobile customer service to complain about the lack of data service. Update 1: – T-Mobile is reporting that data access will begin to come back online tonight but that it will take until at least Monday for all services to be fully restored per the update on the T-Mobile Support Forums.

Update 2: As on Sunday evening, Sidekick data usage has not been fully resolved. T-Mobile’s latest update as of Sunday at 12:42pm is as follow:

Update 4:
T-Mobile is advising customers not to do a hard reset. A hard resetcan cause address book and calendar applications to be lost.
“IM services and access to social networking applications are now being restored along with Web browsing. The Address Book, Calendar, and other features are available as well, however, we advise customers to not ‘hard reset’ their device by removing the battery as it may cause information they enter into the Address Book and Calendar applications to be lost. We expect e-mail service and back-up of user data to be restored today. Some richer data services, such as new purchases from the Catalog, may take longer to enable.”

My service has been out since Friday. And about an hour ago, my sidekick 2008 stopped ringing when I got a text. I had texts in my inbox that didn’t show contact names, just numbers. This is pissing me off.
T-Mobile freakin sucks!! There’s a global outage every couple of months. This is some bullsh-t!! Does somebody keep crashing into the sidekick tower or some sh-t? I haven’t been been able to use my internet or IM for the past 3 days. And all my contacts are gone!! WTF. I think the T in T-Mobile stands for terrible. This is my 1st & last sidekick!!

just to let you ppl know. sprint may have good service but their security royally sucks. look it up and do the research. i, among thousands of others have had my personal information compromised because of SPRINT. my identity was stolen and all my personal information was compromised because SPRINT released it to criminals who called customer service and pretended to be employees and gathered online login information and also got a representative to tell them all the information listed on the account. dont believe me? look it up. if you value your identity dont get sprint and would like a company who has respect for their customers, dont get sprint.

The outage is due to the Danger/Microsoft service. They had migrated a lot of data to new servers and the “effed” it up. This has always been the achilles heel of the Sidekick. No “G” not dice. It’s a brick.
Tmobile is not involved.
This may be an attempt by MSFT to really kill off the sidekick brand loyalty before their PINK product launches-which is even a bigger piece of garbage

And to everyone that says Verizon is better despite the price, you’re wrong. I switched to Verizon and literally every single phone call was dropped after 2-3 minutes. I always had 1-2 bars and found various deadzones throughout Los Angeles, CA. I have to say it was the biggest mistake of my life with cell phones. I switched to T-Mobile after 2 weeks, I couldn’t stand Verizon.
Sprint has been the best with the network and reception coverage, however they screw up bills like a 1st grader trying to do Calculus. And the customer service doesn’t help.
All in all, T-Mobile has been the best phone company I’ve ever used, and even if they have network problems sometimes, the prices and Fave-5 deal is worth it. I do admit that this is quite inconveniencing especially now that I depend on my aim services through my sidekick to talk to my boyfriend. However, I trust them to have it up and running ASAP and complaining isn’t going to help anything. Just sit tight people and it’ll be fixed soon.

1. I have a sidekick and I use it for VERY serious work. I used RIM / Blackberry products in the past and I have been with Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile. Up until this weekend’s sshow T-Mobile has consistently delivered the best service experience; online, on the phone, and with call quality that I have ever had. I am exceptionally upset by my loss of Data Service and T-Mobile did the correct and honorable thing of crediting me for this month. While this weekend has really been troublesome for me as I work on political campaigns and email is my life. It would take a lot more than a temporary service outage for me to consider leaving T-Mobile. One thing I can say is that their front line customer service representatives are empowered to consistently make positive service decisions, the call quality is good, they have a great website, and great phones. Lastly, I frequently hear that Verizon offers a good mobile product, but my experiences in dealing with them as a residential customer has been so horrendous that I would NEVER consider giving them my mobile account. T-Mobile has continually treated me as a valued customer and delivered a GREAT product. I hope that they remain independent and continue to do so.

Is T-Mobile giving credit to everybody who has a sidekick device and is experiencing this problem or just for the people who call T-Mobile and is making a complain? Please let me know! I would love to get credit for not being able to use the data service. I mean its only fair for T-Mobile to give credit to everyone who has a sidekick device regardless if they call and complain or not. I have a sidekick LX 09. I have been with T-Mobile since 2005 (VERY FIRST SKICK) and this is actually the only MAJOR problem I’ve ever had with the service. My sidekick is also a pre-paid phone simply used for Texting, AIM, E-MAIL, & Web, it’s convienent, and I have AT&T for calling.
****WHYYYY are the people with PLANS getting credited 49.99 for this month since they have experienced data loss, and pre-paid users are only getting credited 1$/day for each day it was lost, which is 3$ as of now????? I know people who spend more on pre-paid cards, than an average person with a T-Mobile Plan.
What pisses me off the most is that
1. I wasn’t notified, and ruined a lot of weekends, due to, no contacts, notes or calanders.
2. As a pre-paid customer, You spend (FULL RETAIL) 400$+ on a sidekick and your only getting credited 3$.
3. Everytime I call, I get a foreigner. No offense, but I’m American with service in America, I EXPECT to speak to an American with a decent hold time.
With that said, since these companies pay foreigners to work for a little bit of nothing, I need the rest of that ‘nothing’ to be credited to my account, just like the rest of the people with plans, NO EXCEPTIONS.

For anyone who questions the Sidekick phone as a legitimate smart phone let me just say that it is if you’ve never known any other. I constantly use the phone to conduct business with tons of new people for a variety of reasons. With this phone I’ve been able to become a much more successful person. This just happened to be the worst weekend it could happen as I’ve been traveling. Everything that I had planned to do has been grounded as if by a blizzard! I believe T-Mobile should replace the operating system on the phone completely and fire Microsoft.
Well today is the last chance im giving Sidekicks. Either way im switcing phones. No offense to sidekicks users, because I’ve been one for 3/4 years now, but honestly i think the reason why sidekicks “suck” or people complain so much is because of the lack of service, i mean were always losing service & you could be outside -__- & ever since my boyfriend got a blackberry, I’ve been totally liking it, & its a pretty great phone, which is why soon enough ill have my own BB. I agree with everyone, due to the loss of data service, I was unable to conduct business as most of my jobs are onsite and require the use of the data service to look up info over the internet, schedule appointments, as well as log in contact info, make phone calls, utilize previous notes, etc. Over the sidekick after this one, maybe even t-mobile as a whole as well. For those of you who rely solely on the address book from your sidekick, d/l intellisync and export all your contacts to outlook (if you have access), as a 2nday back up as soon as the service is restored. Danger/Microsoft loss me some cash this past weekend. Better get it straight cuz after this one I sidekickin’ this phone straight down the toilet.

i had a sidekick since the sk1 , currrently i have the lx 2009. & within the pass 2 years tmobile date service has been horrible.
i lose my service atleast twice a day & have to restore default settings just to get my “G” back.

with sprint im on the phone with a live person in no less then 10 mins.

I haven’t had one problem with t-mobile. Whether it be service (which I always have), customer service (who are kind as can be and helpful 99% of the time) or whatever it may be. The minute one little thing goes wrong, everyone is up in arms looking for credit?
