In a press release, Motorola has announced its intentions to manufacture and deploy LTE solutions that operate on the 700Mhz and 2.6 Ghz bands to accommodate carrier deployments in the U.S. and other territories around the world where 4G services are being developed around the 2.6 Ghz band.
The company also announced that it will support the newest variant of LTE which operates on the Time Division Duplex protocol for carriers with TDD spectrum holdings in order to speed up deployments and integration with existing infrastructure as well as the current FDD or Frequency Division Duplex protocol.
Motorola is currently undergoing field trials in North America, Europe, and the Asia Pacific regions while the future hardware will consist of an LTE base station site controller unit that will be shared between WiMAX 802.16e and LTE plus a variety of radio head solutions to meet specific requirements for each carrier.
The lineup includes frame based-mounted radios, remote radio heads and tower top radios to support a wide variety of LTE deployment scenarios across newly available spectrum as well as existing GSM, UMTS and CDMA spectrum. Motorola’s eNode B network architecture system allows many spectrum bands to be supported with limited investment in deployment and development.
