Microsoft’s Developer Events portal has confirmed the long rumored October 11th Windows Phone 7 launch event at Microsoft’s New York Technology Center. With the usual keynotes from Microsoft executives confirmed, demonstrations of applications and hardware will be provided by T-Mobile representatives during the event, a marked change from the long expected and rumored AT&T presence, as CEO Ralph de La Vega has touted the carrier as the premier partner for Windows Phone 7, with incomplete TV ads featuring AT&T surfacing in the last few days.
The Windows Phone 7 launch is a non-event. We’ve seen the OS, which was first demonstrated last February, and has been extensively reviewed since. We’ve seen the handsets, which Microsoft has drip-fed the press with planned “leaks”. There is not going to be very much new information, so it’ll all be a bit ho-hum.
