Since initially confirming that it would shut down the MetroPCS CDMA network in phases until the end of 2015 last year, T-Mobile has instead decided to shut down the remainder of the network this Summer after the transition to T-Mobile’s GSM/LTE network has gone much faster than expected.
In order to complete the remainder of the transition, MetroPCS is now offering substantial trade-in credit for older CDMA phones which make most phones free after instant rebate or even cut the purchase price up to half off for higher-end models.
