After being teased on Twitter last week, MetroPCS has officially launched the T-Mobile compatible version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Android flagship in select markets starting today. Customers both new and current in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Hartford, Las Vegas, New York, Philadelphia and San Francisco will be able to purchase the S4 from both corporate stores and selected third-party dealers for $549.99, while the phone will launch in more markets in the next few weeks leading to a complete launch nationwide.
The MetroPCS Galaxy S4 is identical to the version currently sold on T-Mobile with the only difference being the brand silkscreened on the device and LTE network support. T-Mobile is still working on bridging both LTE networks in markets where MetroPCS and T-Mobile LTE networks overlap, with success in bridging both networks in the Las Vegas market for faster overall throughput and increased total capacity compared to each network operating individually.
