MetroPCS has launched its latest <$150 target LTE-powered smartphones in the Coolpad Quattro 4G, which is also the first phone to be manufactured by Chinese manufacturer YuLong Computer Communications and is the first phone from the wholly-owned Coolpad Americas subsidiary.
Key features of the CoolPad Quattro 4G include Android 2.3 Gingerbread and a 4-inch display, 1GHz processor, a 3.2-megapixel main camera and a VGA front-facing camera along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a microSDHC slot. The phone is being sold for $149.99 and represents the goal of MetroPCS to sell 4G LTE smartphones for $150 or lower with the goal of having the majority of the customer base on LTE by shipping cheaper phones.
MetroPCS previously announced its device agreement with YuLong Computer Communications earlier this year while the carrier scrambled to cover its bases following the failed Sprint buyout, which caused it to remain in a stagnant state for a few months while the company refocused its efforts to transition its customer base and network to LTE, a transition that is already beginning to pay off with the recent launch of new devices and VoLTE service.
Its not worth the 150 price tag when Metro has the LG Motion with android 4.0,dual core Processor, 5mp camera for the same exact price. This phone with its poor camera and outdated operating system should have been priced at 100 dollars at that price it would sell compared to its 150 price tag now.
