Rogue Amoeba today released MakeiPhoneRingtone, a new program with a new approach to getting ringtones into iPhone.
The application works by altering a 30-second (or less) AAC file with the necessary M4R information that iTunes needs to validate the ringtone as valid. It also copies the ringtone to the iTunes Library and prepares it for syncing to iPhone.MakeiPhoneRingtone is a
free application and requires iTunes 7.4 or later.
Update: Version 1.1 has been released, and improves the process to protect against future iTunes updates.
Update: Version 1.2 makes minor bug fix improvements.
