Not long after being released to great fanfare in late April, Apple has released the first major update to the Apple Watch. Watch OS 1.0.1 is a bugfix update and also features changes such as more consistent Siri requests and improved measurement of standing activity. The update also improves third-party app performance.
With the update, the Watch can now calculate calories for indoor cycling and rowing, as well as measure distance and paces during outdoor walk and run workouts. Watch OS 1.0.1 also makes tweaks to accessibility functionality and adds support for new emoji. Finally, the Watch now supports more languages in Brazilian Portuguese, Danish, Dutch, Swedish, Russian, Thai, and Turkish. The Apple Watch update requires a paired iPhone running the latest iOS version in order to update through the companion Apple Watch app.
