uBid’s Daily Deal clearance site, RedTag.com is offering the Acer Iconia Tab A200, for $150 shipped. As a refurbished, base 8GB unit, the tablet is offered at the lowest price we’ve ever seen.
The Acer Iconia Tab A100, A200, and A500 have been popular in the community for their fast(er) response times in being updated through both Android 3.0, Honeycomb and Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich. While Acer has yet to commit to Android 4.1, Jelly Bean updates for its tablets, the Tegra 2 is certified by Google as capable to run Android 4.1.
The Iconia Tab is also equally popular in the community for being competitive in price. The trio of initial Iconia Tabs have been priced agressively by Acer, in a market where many of its rivals sell for many times this price.
This can largely be attributed to Acer selling overstock as “refurbished”, when in fact it is new overstock. While we cannot confirm if these units are new overstock, we have personally inspected previous refurbished deals, to find new units in generic packaging.
The A200 is actually the third tablet from Acer. The A200 is a price-reduced variant of the A500, which lacks a rear-facing camera, as well as lacking an HDMI / video output.
Despite these downsides, this tablet is now well below half its original MSRP, and is still capable of running the latest Android firmwares, even if Acer never offers an official Jelly Bean release. This deal is attractive enough for users to consider as a secondary tablet, especially for those with a 7-inch tablet as their primary tablet today.
Update: Sold out.
Update 2: RedTag.com has put the item back in stock.
