ESPN today announced that they will begin offering next year a new cellular phone service using the Sprint network. ESPN Mobile will use their own phones (re-branded PCS Vision phones) to offer streaming video and other related applications to sports fans.
Aparrently, ESPN plans to use EV-DO phones specifically, quoting Sprint COO & President Len Lauer: “We believe ESPN’s involvement in wireless will help stimulate even further consumer demand for high-speed data services, capitalizing on the strength of Sprint’s EV-DO strategy.”
