ESPN Mobile today announced that they will be shutting down their virtual network operation at the end of this year. The struggling MVNO managed to subscribe less than 100,000 users since its launch in 2005.
The MVNO as of today has released all subscribers from their two-year contracts, and is allowing them to port out ETF-free. Sprint, the underlying network provider, will not be absorbing customers directly, however, ESPN has indicated they will refer existing customers to Sprint. ESPN Mobile says that they will help users migrate to another carrier, and plans to continue delivering services to other carriers.
