Wireless equipment manufacturer and supplier Ericsson has announced its own complete solution for hardware manufacturers to create LTE compliant hardware devices such as wireless modems and multi-mode mobile devices.
The M700 is being touted as the world’s first platform for manufacturing such devices and features six-band support which includes the recently auctioned 700Mhz band, and is claimed to support peak download speeds of 100Mbps with upload speeds near 50Mbps, supported bandwidth range between 1.4 and 20Mhz with the same power consumption as current 3G W-CDMA based devices.
Ericsson is currently sending engineering samples of the platform to interested manufacturers during this year, and expects a full commercial launch of the platform in 2009, with the first finalized devices such as USB, ExpressCard, and internal modems being made available at retail in 2010.
