The number of users accessing e-mail via mobile devices grew by 36% in November 2010 compared to the same month a year before, according to business analytics provider comScore. Web-based e-mail sites’ visitors were off 6% for the same month. Web-based e-mail sites exclude desktop clients like Microsoft Outlook.
Teenagers (aged between 12 and 17) showed the sharpest drop for the web-based products with a drop of 24%. There was an increase, however, in users 55 and older. In that month 30% of all mobile subscribers accessed e-mail via mobile phone—70.1 million users.
