Not long after the release of ultrasn0w, the Dev-Team of intrepid hackers has discovered that the 24Kpwn exploit found and used in the development of the second generation iPod Touch jailbreak is present and intact in the iPhone 3GS.
Because of the discovery, the development time for an unlock/jailbreak solution has been significantly accelerated and streamlined from initial expectations, as the team states that the tools found in redsn0w can be used to jailbreak the 3GS.
The team then goes on to explain that ultrasn0w could be used to unlock the 3GS for other carriers, but stresses that there are enough differences in the bootrom and baseband to continue work on a reliable toolset that integrates all of the changes in the 3GS to safely unlock and jailbreak the device with no release timeframe given for the new tools.
