One of the best tablets ever made is, for a limited time, available at half-off.
The catch? You have to trek to one of the few remaining Sony Style stores in the country.
The VAIO Tap 11 starts at $799, but that’s for the watered-down Pentium 3560Y version. This deal however, nets you the coveted Core i5-4250Y version of the tablet, at a mere $549.99.
Plus, the deal includes a free second AC Adapter, and a case of your choice, plus a 16GB SDHC card.
The VAIO Tap 11 is Sony’s answer to the Microsoft Surface Pro 2. It includes its own kickstand, which is rubberized and can bend to various degrees (unlike Surface Pro which has a fixed kickstand).
Also, VAIO Tap 11 comes with an integrated keyboard and trackpad that magnetically attaches to the front of the tablet, acting as a cover. It also uses the magnetic lock to recharge the keyboard and trackpad, as the unit is wireless. Also neat – the keyboard/trackpad base uses a custom 2.4 GHz radio, bypassing Bluetooth and eliminating the need for pairing. It even works in the system’s BIOS panels.
I have no clue if Sony is keeping the VAIO Tap/tablet team as part of their announced wind-down of the VAIO division. But, they’re insane if they don’t. This is, quite simply, the best tablet ever made. Its only drawback was the $1,099 price tag, and this deal fixed that quite efficiently.
In all, this may be the best tablet deal this former Chief Editor has ever seen. If you’re within two hours of a Sony Style store, call and see if they still have units at this price.
While I am away doing other things, I promise this is relevant to my interests, and soon yours too.
