A deal for CES, Intel along with Newegg is offering the Intel 320 80 GB Solid State Drive (SSD) for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate.
Using coupon code IntelSSD knocks the drive down to $79.99 after rebate.
This is one of the lowest prices we’ve seen for the Intel 320, which is Intel’s latest generation of mainstream Solid State Drives. The price to performance ratio is excellent, and we’ve even order a drive or two of these for the office.
California residents should take note that sales tax is charged on the pre-rebate price. Even so, it’s still over 40% off compared to other retailers. Shipping is free however to pretty much everyone in the United States.
The Intel 320 SSD supports all modern features that you’d expect from an SSD, such as TRIM and SATA 6 Gbps for speedy data transfers. Mac users should note that TRIM is only officially supported in Mac OS X Lion on Apple-shipped drives, so you may need to tinker with Lion to force TRIM to work. Mac users (especially the not-so hacker-inclined) may benefit from an alternative drive, such as a Kingston SSDNow V100+ that has an alternative to TRIM which does not require any operating system support.
The coupon code doesnt work…it gives me this message:
Although you’ve entered a valid promo code IntelSSD, your order does not currently meet the code’s usage criteria.
