While supplies last, Shoprunner is offering free one-year memberships to the first 25,000 signups. The promotion is being sponsored by Domino’s Pizza, which offers free pizza delivery for members of the service.
Shoprunner is a multi-store answer to Amazon Prime, touting free two-day shipping at dozens of retailers for a flat rate of $79 per year. Shoprunner merchants include popular technology retailers such as Newegg and Radio Shack, and early next year will also include MacMall.
The service from time to time though offers free signup windows, as it recoups most of the cost of operations through affiliate revenue and partner deals signed with participating merchants. As such, the cost of offering free membership to Shoprunner is a small loss-leader, if not profitable for the operation.
Regardless, having a Shoprunner membership is a good idea when free. We encourage you to sign up as soon as possible, however, as these signup offerings typically run out long before they expire.
We do caution readers to disable auto-renewal in the Account Settings after signing up, to avoid being billed $79 one year after signup… automatically.
Credit card information was not required when I signed up, and I’ve verified that I have a full year of member benefits. But you may want to change your Marketing Preferences to prevent your data being sent to others and to avoid unsolicited promos to your email and postal mail.
