During a recent Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Communications, Technology and the Internet hearing, CEO Dan Hesse has confirmed that handset vendors working with Sprint must comply with its new environmental design specifications, according to a transcript of his given testimony to the committee.
“Moving forward, every handset vendor who manufactures handsets to operate on Sprint’s networks must produce handsets that meet or exceed Sprint’s new green design criteria and specifications.”
Sprint’s green handset initiative is based on an environmental scorecard it jointly developed with its current handset manufacturer partners.
Hesse also stated the scorecard will help Sprint and its manufacturer partners gauge the degree to which each handset complies with its ecological standards, such as the percentage of recycled materials used in the manufacturing of the device and how easily it can be recycled.
Cool, green handsets on Sprint. Guess this pretty much guarantees that Sprint will continue to be devoid of decent handsets.
Ugh, I completely agree. Sprint needs to focus on handsets, not green initiatives. I swear they are trying to repulse their customer base.
You’re damned if u do & you’re damned if u dont ! Bottomline, if u dont like it, switch to another carrier, stop with your whining already……..
