PalmOne today officially announced on the eve of the kick off of CTIA the Treo 650. While it’s the worst-kept secret in the universe as of today (after all, we were the first site to maintain pictures of it months ago), the phone was officially announced.
While many have reported the Treo 650 will have a 1.3 MP digital camera, it will not. Instead it will have a VGA (640×480 pixel) camera that has been “dramatically improved” from the one in the Treo 600. A mirror will also be next to the camera for self-portraits, and the camera will support 2x zoom.
Besides a revised operating system (PalmOS 5.4), and a removable battery that delivers nearly twice the capacity (5 hours of talk time), the Blazer browser has been upgraded to 4.0 which will significantly improve loading times. The launch price will be the same as the Treo 600, $599.99.
