Samsung has announced the forthcoming worldwide launch of the Samsung Galaxy S Android smartphone.
The device will feature Samsung’s newly-developed Super AMOLED display technology along with support for its mobile Digital Natural Image engine (a variant of the image processing technology used in its high-end flat panel displays).
Technical specifications consist of a 4 inch capacitive touch display at WVGA resolution, a new 1GHz processor/chipset developed in-house, Android 2.1, support for the Layar augmented reality web browser, internal GPS transceiver with 3D mapping application, Swype virtual keyboard support, Bluetooth with stereo audio support and the Smart Life suite of features which include:
Daily Briefing: Offers instant access to weather, news, stocks, and the scheduler.
All Share: Enables inter-device connectivity via DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) networking technology.
Home Cradle: Enables use as a digital photo frame, table clock, calendar, and music station.
Write and go: Jot down an idea first and later decide on a format such as SMS/ MMS, email, calendar or memo.
ThinkFree: Apps to view and edit Microsoft Office 2007 documents.
Smart Alarm: Wakes up with a natural alarm sound and automatically turned-on display light.
The device will be launched in Europe, North America, Latin America, Australia, and Asia this year.
