To kick off CTIA, AT&T has announced its latest slate of Android smartphones for the holiday season into the Winter of 2012.
The Motorola Atrix 2 will feature 21Mbps HSPA+ support, the same 4.3-inch qHD 960 x 540 display, 8.0 megapixel camera with front-facing camera and 1080p HD video capture, 8 GB of internal storage, 1 GB RAM, pre-installed 2 GB microSD card Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), On Device Encryption (ODE) and Enhanced Exchange ActiveSync® (EAS) along with IPsec VPN support. No release date or pricing is available at this time.
AT&T also announced the Samsung Captivate Glide with a 4-inch Super AMOLED display, Android 2.3, a 1GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU, 21Mbps HSPA+ support, an 8.0 megapixel rear camera with 1.3MP front-facing cam, 1080p HD video capture and HDMI output/mirroring. Additional features include a 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 AP20H dual core processor, 1GB RAM/1GB ROM/8GB internal memory with microSD slot, 4-inch 480×800 WVGA resolution Super AMOLED display, Enhanced Exchange ActiveSync® (EAS) to sync email, contacts, calendar and tasks, Device and SD card encryption, Virtual private network support and Mobile Device Management (MDM) It will be available in AT&T stores and online October 16th, for $99 on a two year contract with no rebate required.
AT&T also announced the forthcoming release of two new phones from Pantech and Samsung in the Pocket and DoubleTime respectively. The DoubleTime is a horizontal clamshell dual-screen device and features Android 2.2, a 3.2 MP digital camera with a camcorder, voice recognition, a dedicated function key for shortcuts, drag-and-drop widgets, five scrolling home screens and an expandable menu with scrolling panels along with a 600 MHz processor, microSD slot, 3.2″ full touch screen displays with 320 x 480 and 480 x 320 at HVGA resolution.
The Pantech Pocket features a first of its kind 4.0″ SVGA (800×600) touch screen display, 5.0 megapixel camera, ~600MB internal memory plus pre-installed 2GB microSD card, Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), Bluetooth: v. 2.1 + EDR, Wi-Fi and access to AT&T hotspots.
To close out the lineup, the last phone announced will be a new Android phone by ZTE in the Avail. The phone features a 3.5-inch touch screen, 5.0 megapixel camera and runs on Android 2.3 which will be sold under the GoPhone service. Additional features include 512 MB ROM and 512 MB RAM with a 2 GB pre-installed microSD card, seven customizable homescreens and Wi-Fi.
Pricing for all phones will be determined close to their respective launch dates.
