AT&T’s Cricket Wireless brand is making a more compelling case for driving subscriber growth to its brand following this week’s news of its retail tieup with GameStop. Now the company looks to aim squarely for MetroPCS and Boost Mobile by increasing data on its smartphone plan slate beginning on Saturday September 13th.
Cricket Plan | Price without/with Auto-Pay Credit |
New High-Speed Data Allotment | High-Speed Data Before Offer |
Basic Plan | $40
$35 after $5 Auto Pay credit |
1GB | 500MB |
Smart Plan | $50
$45 after $5 Auto Pay credit |
3GB | 2.5GB |
Pro Plan | $60
$55 after $5 Auto Pay credit |
10GB | 5GB |
In addition to the above changes, Cricket has also made its multi-line plan more compelling by adding a fifth line for the same $100 monthly rate, making each line $20 per month when signing up for the $40 plan.
All three single-line plans include unlimited voice, messaging and unlimited data throttled to 128Kbps for the rest of the plan month after the high speed allotment in the above chart is used up. On Cricket, High-Speed data access is throttled to a maximum of 8 Mbps for LTE data and 4 Mbps for HSPA+ access. Additional high-speed data access is available at $10 for 1GB past the monthly data allotment, good for a month.
Representatives from Cricket Wireless have also confirmed that current and new customers that sign up for the above plans will be able to keep the increased data after the promotional period expires, and the increased data allotments will remain active for those customers as long as the account remains active.
