PhoneNews.com has learned that Clearwire will be releasing its own variant of the WiMax-enabled Samsung Galaxy S, following the leak of the Sprint Galaxy S PRO version this past week with a target launch slated for the end of the year.
This follows along with word that Sprint will offer both versions of the device (with and without hardware keyboard). The aforementioned devices will be identical to the European version in specification save for differences in radio support and hardware respectively.
In related news, Clearwire has also launched a new slate of modems for purchase or lease for use on Clear service, including the first modem with complete compatibility for Mac OS X in the Clear 4G+ Mobile USB modem, with compatibility for OS X 10.5 and 10.6 along with the Clear Spot 4G+ (dual-mode with 3G / 4G support) and Clear Spot 4G (4G only).
Pricing for the above is set at $224.99 (or $5.99 per month) for the 4G+ with availability in July. The 4G+ Mobile USB stick will retail for $114.99 or $5.99 per month.
I love it …lol…:
“The aforementioned devices will be identical to the European version in specification save for differences in radio support and hardware respectively.”
IDENTICAL…SAVE FOR DIFFERENCES IN RADIO…HARDWARE!
IDENTICAL EXCEPT FOR THE HARDWARE!!! LOL That sounds REAL IDENTICAL . LOL
Joe, I’m not sure what you’re making a big deal about. This is a common statement in reports.
When devices are brought to America, they are often modified heavily, removing major features to bring the cost down. This has ceased a bit since iPhone… which reminded the industry that Americans crave superphones as much as the rest of the world.
Saying “save for” in an article to note one lone change is so common, it boggles my mind why you wasted the time to write that comment.
The Galaxy S Pro has nice specs and will likely be my next phone though on Sprint, not Clearwire. I’m especially excited about the Super AMOLED screen. It would be nice if both of the cameras had higher resolutions and it had 1GB ROM to match the Evo.
Can we get some more info on the Sprint branded Galaxys and if possible the Clear branded handsets coming up
This spot would’ve been a lot better if the leaked photos of the Pro were added, all the other blogs have them. This site better have the 1st hands on because you surely are giving it the coverage the Evo got.
I am thinking I want the Galaxy over the EVO. The EVO just seems too darn big!
