Many former AT&T Wireless customers are starting to receive letters in the mail that their GAIT service will be discontinued soon. These customers (who use phones that can access Analog, TDMA, and GSM/GPRS, as well as EDGE through a second phone) will lose access to Analog and TDMA, but will not be required to change plans.
It is not clear at this time if all of the Blue GAIT network is being shut down, or if it is being done in select areas. It does not appear to be affecting Orange GAIT customers at this time, though it may be a clear indication that Cingular is planning to shut down GAIT, in most Orange areas customers can no longer add GAIT to their service plans.
