Yesterday Cingular announced their basic plan to deploy 3G services nationwide. But the big surprise was that they would not just be deploying UMTS, but also it’s high(er)-speed supplement, HSDPA.
Cingular claims average speeds of 400 to 700 kilobits on the new dual-mode network, and plans to begin deployment early next year. Cingular also said that they plan to have most major markets covered by the end of 2006.
