Regional carrier Cincinnati Bell has officially announced the launch of its HSPA+ data overlay and service within its rather small native coverage area. It has also rolled out the service with the claim that it is twice as fast as the national carriers 4G services with claimed speeds of 10Mbps compared to the average speeds of 4.0 Mbps for T-Mobile and 4.8Mbps for T-Mobile and Sprint. To celebrate the launch of the network and following the launch of the HTC Panache/Glacier, the carrier has also announced the launch of the Huawei Ascend X Android smartphone (shown in the lead image) with a 4.1 inch touch display, Android 2.2 Froyo, 1GHz processor, 5.0 megapixel camera with 720p video capture, Wi-Fi N radio, microSD card slot and HDMI out. The phone is being offered in a buy one get one free promotion for $149.99 after new 2 year agreement before an additional $50 mail-in rebate, bringing the total to $99.99. The Ascend X will also be updated to Android Gingerbread once the update is ready and made available.
