Best Buy will be launching a branded mobile broadband service called Connect on July 11th across all but 75 Best Buy locations in the country. The service will offer three agreement options in no contract, 1 and 2 year agreements along with 250, 500 and 5GB data service options.
Overage rates are dependent on agreement length and data option selected, with the rate starting at $0.20/MB on the No Contract 250MB service option going all the way down to $0.05/MB on the 5GB option regardless of agreement length. A $35 activation fee will also be levied to all options except for the 500MB and 5GB options under the two year agreement, where the fee will be waived.
The service will be heavily tied to the Reward Zone program as well as offering usage tracking online for data usage management and will run off of the Sprint network as an MVNO for use on netbooks and laptops in Best Buy’s inventory with built-in Qualcomm Gobi modems, although the service will not be offered for 4G modems, nor will Best Buy offer its own equipment.
And the ETF is reasonable.
