In an email to members sent out today, Best Buy has announced significant positive changes to its Reward Zone membership for Premier Silver members that spend a minimum of $2500 per calendar year in any Best Buy retail location. Of interest to frequent purchasers will be the extended return policy which has been extended to 60 days no questions asked with the addition of a 60-day pricematch period for purchases made in order to ensure customer satisfaction, which will no doubt make members reconsider online purchases from other storefronts.
In addition to the above, members will also get free expedited shipping and free delivery on top of in-store pickup and new perks such as a complimentary Geek Squad housecall to help set up or troubleshoot one item per calendar year and priority access to special events and sales, such as first in line access to Black Friday.
With Best Buy’s recent financial issues leading to the closure of 50 stores and increasingly negative customer perception, the retailer hopes that these changes will help spur more Premier Silver members to shop at the retailer instead of skipping them for online sales and storefronts, which have been eating away at Best Buy’s competitive position in spite of gaining marketshare following the liquidation of Circuit City.
