AT&T just took one of their newest messaging phones, and is now offering it no contract. At the same time, they also slashed the price of one of their 3G no-contract phones. And, we’re offering cashback on both.
The Pantech Slate is AT&T’s non-smartphone knock-off of the Motorola Q. It features quad-band GSM with EDGE Class 10, Bluetooth 1.2, and a 1.3 megapixel camera.
The final cost that AT&T is offering the Slate (without contract) is $129.99. That’s after a $50 mail-in rebate, which requires you to maintain active prepaid service for 120 days (or, a minimum prepaid service charge of $35). Even if you plan on using the Slate as a backup phone for your existing account, it still makes sense to do the rebate, and save yourself $15.
PhoneNews.com is offering $10 cashback on the Pantech Slate when purchased on prepaid. Unlike other sites, our cashback is a simple process, no hassles with signing up for anything (though we do require a PayPal account to send you the cashback).
Similarly, we are also offering $10 cashback on the Samsung A737 3G slider, which has fallen to a new low price of $74.99 without contract, on the GoPhone store. As a refurbished offering (unlike the slate), the final cost of the phone comes to $64.99.
Both the Slate and A737 come with free overnight shipping, the Slate comes with a one year warranty, while the A737 comes with a 90 day warranty.
To get your cashback (as usual) just follow the steps below:
1) Click this link to buy the Pantech Slate or Samsung A737 from the GoPhone Store. It doesn’t matter which GoPhone plan you chose, but you must click the link. This allows us to make sure you ordered via PhoneNews.com.
2) When you get your order confirmation email (that’s the one with your order number in it), copy the text of that email, and send it to us. Be sure to give us an email address associated with a PayPal account.
3) Once we confirm the order, we’ll send the $10.00 along via PayPal. Please note that this can take anywhere from one to nine days.
If you want to order multiple phones (up to three), you need to do so on separate orders. We cannot honor cashback requests for second or third phones placed on the same order. Just repeat the process if you want to order a second or third phone, on a new order.
- Other ongoing cashback deals:
- Nokia 2610 for just $.01, without rebates
- $10 off Sony Ericsson Z750a 3G Flip and W350 Walkman phones
I already have a Go Phone account… I just want a new phone. Does this offer only apply if I buy a new GoPhone and activate a new account?
Keep in mind that you can just pop the SIM from your old GoPhone into the new phone, and your number will transfer over. So, activating a new account on its own is not a big deal… you would just transfer the phone over to your existing account at no charge.
It also appears that the $50 mail-in rebate on the Pantech Slate is valid on existing GoPhone accounts, so long as you continue to keep the service active for 120 days.
So, you should be fine. Just follow the steps above to order the phone (there are no activation fees, so you’ll just throw away the new number they give you) and then put the SIM from your old GoPhone into the new phone that arrives.

Hi,
I just got of an online chat with an AT&T rep. They did not seem to be aware that the Pantech Slate can be used with the prepaid plan. I guess I will just go physically over to an AT&T store and ask. I have the Pantech Slate and I love it. I no longer have a contract and would really like to continue using this phone.
