In today’s press release, AT&T has announced that in June, it will be deploying HSUPA in the six remaining markets and completing its deployment of HSUPA technology. The move will make AT&T the only US carrier to have entirely deployed HSPA as part of its 3G network. All future UMTS network additions will launch simultaneously with HSPA.
AT&T is also looking to expand the availability of their 3G network from 275 markets to 350 by the end of 2008. Users will experience upload speeds of between 500 Kbps to 800 Kbps while the download speeds are up to 1.4 Mbps through HSDPA.
With switching over completely from TDMA to GSM, AT&T’s 850 Mhz spectrum from TDMA will be utilized to enhance and expand their 3G markets. This comes shortly after a recent report of AT&T increasing 3G speeds fivefold by 2009.
