AT&T has quietly announced the immediate availability of a new slate of GoPhone tablet data plans for those customers that want to use an LTE-equipped tablet, but don’t want to deal with the Mobile Share Value plan or just need mobile data access on occasion. The new GoPhone Tablet plans start at $15 for a week of access at 250MB and go up to $50 monthly for 5GB, with overage set at $10/1GB of data on all plans.
The new plans make buying a tablet with 3G/4G LTE access more amenable to potential customers instead of having to purchase such a tablet and never using the cellular data functions either due to the expense of adding separate tablet data access or being scared off by the increased expense compared to Wi-Fi-only models.
Ironic that AT&T wants $15 for the 250 MB tier, when T-Mobile gives 200 MB per month for free, for any tablet in America that can access its network.
