AT&T has officially launched the first variant of the recently launched Galaxy S5 in the S5 Active. The Galaxy S5 Active features the same key features as the standard S5, including the 5.1-inch 1080p display, 2.5GHz quad-core processor, 16-megapixel camera, and built-in heart rate monitor on the rear of the device with S Health software.
The GS5 Active has been given a tougher bodyshell to provide extra protection which is also mil-spec 810G certified, which means it can withstand high heat, extreme cold, shock, vibration, high altitude, and humidity for a given time period as well as sitting in up to 3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes.
Samsung has also added an additional software feature to the GS5 Active in a button press of the convenience key on the upper left side launching all apps related to outdoor activity on a single screen. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is set at $199.99 with a new two-year contract, or as low as $27.50 per month on the AT&T Next 18 plan, or $35.75 per month on the AT&T Next 12 plan, with no-contract pricing set at $714.99.
