AT&T today announced that they will be acquiring regional affiliate Edge Wireless. Edge helped Cingular provide coverage in key rural areas, including Northern California, while catering to their customers with a diverse range of devices. Edge is one of the only carriers besides T-Mobile to have sold the Sidekick (under the hiptop brand) as well as elite devices from HTC, Nokia, and Sony Ericsson.
Edge will now operate as a typical region in the new AT&T wireless network, upon approval and transaction of the acqusition.
