Apple has released the long-awaited iPhone and iPod Touch Update 2.2.
The update adds Google Street View (with pedestrian and public transit directions), albeit without the compass functionality found in the T-Mobile G1, updates to Safari Mobile and Mail, location sharing through email, further fixes for dropped calls, app screenshots and rating options in the App Store, toggle capability for Auto-Correct, and the capability to download podcasts directly on the device over the air via Wi-Fi or the 3G/EDGE network.
It should be noted that the iPod Touch update does not include the Google StreetView enhancements, possibly as a result of the much maligned non-GAAP accounting practices that Apple uses to delineate the iPhone and iPod Touch as separate products.
To update go into iTunes and select iPhone > Check for Updates
