After a delay of two weeks past its own self-imposed deadline, Apple has launched its long-awaited iTunes Match music sync service for iTunes users in the US.
As previously announced, iTunes Match is a yearly service available for $24.99/year that allows users to synchronize digital music collections against Apple’s iTunes Music Store library in order to avoid the hassle of repurchasing music already owned and to maintain a consistent level of quality for all music owned. The service will support synching 20,000 tracks at 256K AAC encoding and is Apple’s alternative to cloud music services such as Spotify as it utilizes its own core iCloud service to synchronize music across all iOS devices.
