Amazon has released a new beta version of their Kindle app for RIM’s BlackBerry series of devices.
The Kindle app is identical to the other apps released on competing platforms, with access to purchased books on the device, bookmark/chapter sync and annotation support.
Currently the application is only available in the US and supported on the BlackBerry Bold 9000, Bold 9700, Curve 8520, Curve 8900, Storm 9530, Storm2 9550 and Tour 9630.
I just downloaded it and it works like a charm. I opened up a book I am also eading on my Kindle ofr PC and Kindle for iPhone, and it synced right away to the page I was on on my desktop. I’ll tell you, if Apple does not come up with a slimmed down versoin of iBooks so that I can read the same book on an iPad and my iPhone with the synching capability of Kindle Whispersync, that would be tragic.
