In what could be considered the quietest way to launch a new voice plan, regional carrier Alltel has decided to maintain parity with the other service providers by offering a $99 unlimited voice calling plan, but did not even solicit a press release, instead an internal memo leaked by Engadget Mobile made the announcement for them along with another report from RCR.
The memo explains that Alltel prefers to emphasize the value of its myCircle offering, but that it realizes certain customers would take advantage of such a voice plan with the odd caveat that it cannot be used on smart devices.
Alltel (a national carrier) had unlimited plans available until about a year ago, but canceled them. So, this is more a relaunch than a launch.
Unless you have a link to a press release, (or until I can open an account in Dallas) please provide proof for your statement.
