Alcatel has announced pricing and launch details for one of its latest flagship smartphones in the 5.5-inch version of the Idol 3 smartphone. The phone features a 1080p display and octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. The processor includes four cores at 1.5GHz and four cores at 1.0GHz.
The Idol 3 has stereo JBL-branded speakers with Clarify audio processing and 1.2W amplifiers. The phone is also reversible, meaning it can be held in any orientation and the user interface will rotate accordingly without having to re-orient the phone if in a pocket or purse. The main camera uses a 13-megapixel Sony image sensor with Alcatel’s software that includes a variety of capture modes for stills and video.
The phone also has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with wide-angle lens. Data options include LTE and HSPA+ support, Bluetooth 4.1, FM radio, GPS, and Wi-Fi N radio. The Idol 3 also includes a 2,910mAh battery and supports microSD cards up to 128 GB. It will be sold unlocked for $249.99 as a pre-order campaign until April 21, and will go up in price to $279.99 in May. The Idol 3 is compatible with most GSM networks including US networks.
