The new Palm webOS device that has been making the rounds across the internet today is in fact a real device slated for AT&T, possibly by the end of the year.
PhoneNews.com has been able to independently confirm the existence of the webOS-based successor to the Palm Centro in the Castle/Eos.
According to chatter and sources, AT&T along with other major carriers were offered the Pre itself, but AT&T instead opted for a Centro successor which resulted in the development in the Eos.
All of the specifications can be confirmed in quadband GSM, HSDPA 850 / 1900, 2.63-inch 320 x 400 capacitive touchscreen display, 4GB of internal storage, 2 megapixel digital camera with flash and video capture, Bluetooth 2.1 with stereo audio support, micro USB port, removable battery with 4 hours of 3G talk time, messaging, integrated IM client contacts sync with AT&T Address Book, MediaNet, Cellular Video, Email, and A-GPS support.
The device is planned for a holiday 2009 release but may launch earlier than that pending on AT&T’s testing and approval phases.

The Eos is the best mix of features for me. I would rather give up the bigger screen to have the keyboard ready to go…more efficient. Plus, the top of the line models are never the best value.
