Many news organizations erroneously reported that the Bluetooth SIG was hard at work on developing the next version of the ubiquitous transmission protocol that would be called Bluetooth 2.2. A representative of the group did deny that Bluetooth 2.2 was in development today, only to confirm the existence of the new Bluetooth standard which would more than likely be branded as Bluetooth 3.0.
The new Bluetooth standard is expected to be a generational leap in terms of power usage and transmission capability, with the emphasis placed on further development of a high speed data transfer standard and improved connection speed for telephony before final ratification next year.
The current schedule also consists of low-power transmission integration into the roadmap, with a series of meetings starting this month into 2009 during the months of January, February, June, and October.
The other day I was trying to explain the difference between Bluetooth and wfifi and failed badly, as I Dad was asking what Bluetooth was. All I could tell him was that Bluetooth connects devices together whereas wifi is when computers and mobiles link via radio to a portal
