This morning in a press conference during the Nokia World expo in Barcelona, Nokia has revealed the new flagship device for the venerable N-Series of high-end smart devices in the N97.
The Nokia N97 features a 3.5 inch resistive touchscreen tilt display, QWERTY keyboard, Symbian Series 60 5th Edition, quadband GSM/EDGE triband European/Asian W-CDMA access, Wi-Fi radio, Bluetooth with stereo audio support, speakerphone, GPS transceiver with compass and A-GPS, TV output, 32GB of internal memory with additional microSDHC expansion slot, microUSB port, full access to Nokia services (Ovi, Nokia Music, Share), and an HTML browser with Flash Lite support.
The camera assembly features a 5.0 megapixel sensor, Carl Zeiss Tessar lens, 5.4mm focal length, and a wide aperture angle with dual LED flash and dedicated video light for VGA video capture at 30fps.Â
Pricing for the device is set at €550 ($693) and is expected in the first half of 2009 with no word on a US launch at this time.
[…] N97 – Best phone ever? Nokia Announces N97 Flagship N-Series Device | PhoneNews.com Seems pretty much amazing to me. […]
Too bad we can not get this phone in the USA.
Why are we the last to get the good phones like this one?
Generally, it’s because of where the companies are headquartered. Nokia is headquartered in Europe, and has struggled with catering properly to the broad customer base in the United States (by their own admission).
I would say that we aren’t consistently the last anymore. iPhone, iPhone 3G, and the T-Mobile G1 show that we are far from last place today. That trend will continue as Android adoption increases with US-based companies such as Motorola.
And, the Symbian Foundation partnership will hopefully re-ignite handset makers other than Nokia to re-embrace the Symbian platform… though, recent gains by Android have made that less promising in the short term.
when the N97 available in indonesia? how much ? thx
