PhoneNews, com previously reported the existence of a non 3G version of the BlackBerry Bold that was codenamed Javelin. Â The device was reported to have two versions in development to cater to the specific requests from T-Mobile and AT&T, namely Wi-Fi and GPS access respectively.
Today in a press release, RIM has announced the German launch of the Javelin as the BlackBerry 8900 Curve for T-Mobile Germany, but the biggest news was the confirmation that the device would indeed launch in the US as early as the first quarter of 2009, confirming our original report.
The device specifications have also remained largely unchanged from our prior report with the same HVGA display, keyboard, 3.2 megapixel camera with video recorder and flash, OS 4.6, Bluetooth with stereo audio support, microSDHC expansion slot, speakerphone, and the inclusion of Wi-Fi along with the GPS transceiver.
