Apple has released multiple new betas today, which have let loose new details on the upgrades coming July 11th.
First, Apple released iPhone SDK Beta 8. This is expected to be the last beta release of the SDK. Apple states in the SDK release notes that the release is code-compatible with the final release of iPhone 2.0 software. This is the first release that will enable developers to submit final versions of their applications to Apple’s AppStore.
More interesting, Apple released to select developers a new beta of iTunes 7.7. The release of iTunes 7.7 will be required for integrating the AppStore, as well as supporting iPhone software 2.0 devices (including iPod touch and iPhone 3G). In the application’s code makes note of the long-rumored application iControl. The notes indicate that iControl will allow iPhone to act as a remote control to iTunes, though it is not clear if that will allow for remote streaming of content to the device. The beta does indicate that iControl will be a free application for download from the AppStore.
