Following up on Tuesday’s article regarding the forthcoming changes to AT&T’s GoPhone prepaid service, AT&T has officially confirmed the changes and elaborated on them, by adding a new middle plan exclusive to Walmart and more data on the $40 and $60 plans.
Beginning on April 25th AT&T will make the following changes to GoPhone:
- Increased data from 2 to 2.5 GB for $60 a month + enabled Wi-Fi hotspot capability + unlimited talk
- Increased data from 250 to 500MB for $40 a month + 500 minutes of talk
- Available at Wal-Mart stores nationwide, a new plan with 1GB of data for $45 a month + unlimited talk
The changes will be automatically applied to current customers without any need to contact customer service and the hotspot access will be enabled on all smartphones regardless of operating system, although AT&T made no mention of enabling FaceTime over cellular access, which some GoPhone customers are now reporting as active.
